  1. The Supreme Court today stayed the Allahabad High Court’s order of a 2-month interim bail on medical grounds to Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, former Uttar Pradesh minister, who is under trial in a gang rape case. Former Minister Prajapati, the accused, is under trial in a case registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act, 2012, at Lucknow.
  2. The Supreme Court has directed the Chief Justices of all High Courts to: – formulate an action plan on rationalization of the number of special courts.
  • personally monitor trials.
  • offer suggestions to Amicus for speedy disposal.
  • submit an action plan with comments and suggestions to Amicus and Secretary-General of the Supreme Court within a week.
