New Education Policy 2020- Government Of India (Union Cabinet) has released information about the inclusion of the New Education Policy 2020 (National Education Policy 2020). The Union Cabinet has approved the New Education Policy with an aim to introduce changes in the current Education Policies for the improvement in country’s Education System.
– Institutions and faculty will have the autonomy to innovate on matters of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment within a broad framework of higher education.
– All assessment systems shall also be decided by the HEI, including those that lead to final certification. The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) will be revised for instilling innovation and flexibility.
– HEIs shall move to a criterion-based grading system that assesses student achievement based on the learning goals for each program.
– HEIs shall move away from high-stakes examinations towards more continuous and comprehensive evaluation.
– Each institution will integrate its academic plans ranging from curricular improvement to quality of classroom transaction-into its larger institutional development plan (IDP).
– High- quality support centers and professional academic and career counseling will be made available to all students.
– Norms, standards, and guidelines for systemic development, regulation, and accreditation of ODL will be prepared, and a framework for quality of ODL that will be recommendatory for all HEIs will be developed.
– All programs, courses curricula, and pedagogy across subjects, including those in-class, online, and in achieve global standards of quality.
– 10+2 board structure is dropped now new school structure will be accepted as 5+3+3+4.
– Up to the age of 5 pre-school, age of 6 to 8 Mid School, age of 8 to 11 High School, 12 onwards Graduation.
– 6th standard onwards vocational courses available, from 8th to 11 students can choose subjects. Example – science students can have Physics as Major and Music as minor also. Any combination can choose.
– All higher education will be governed by only one authority. UGC AICTE will be merged. Any Degree will be 4 years. All University government, private, Open, Deemed, Vocational, etc. will have same grading and other rules. New Teacher Training board will be set up for all kinds of teachers in the country, no state can change. The same level of Accreditation to any collage, based on its rating college will get autonomous rights and funds.
– The new Basic learning program will be created by the government for parents to teach children up to 3 years in home and for pre-school 3 to 6. Multiple entries and exit from any course.
– A credit system for graduation for each year student will get some credits that he can utilize if he takes a break in the course and comes back again to complete the course.
– All school exams will be semester wise in a year. The syllabus will be reduced to core knowledge of any subject only. More focus on student practical and application knowledge.
– For any graduation course if the student completes only one year he will get a basic certificate, if he completes two years then he will get a Diploma certificate and if he completes the full course then he will get a degree certificate. So the attending year by a student will not be wasted if he drops in between of course.
